How to install night sight on a pistol?πŸ› οΈ

Installing sights on a Glock 43 can be done with the right tools and some basic knowledge of firearm maintenance. Here’s a general overview of how to do this:

➑️ Safety First: Ensure your Glock 43 is unloaded and the chamber is clear. Double-check to make sure there is no ammunition nearby.
➑️ Prepare Your Work Area: Set up your workspace with good lighting and a clean, stable surface.
➑️ Remove Existing Sights (if applicable): If your Glock 43 already has sights installed, you’ll need to remove them first. Use the brass or polymer punch to drift out the rear sight by tapping it from left to right (for right-handed shooters). Be gentle and ensure you don’t scratch the slide.
➑️ Prepare the Replacement Sights: If your replacement sights require any additional assembly or adjustment, follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
➑️ Install the Rear Sight: Using the sight pusher tool or the appropriate sight installation tool, carefully slide the rear sight into place from right to left (for right-handed shooters). Be sure the sight is aligned properly and seated flush with the slide. If necessary, use the punch to gently tap it into place.
➑️ Install the Front Sight: Install the front sight by gently tapping it into place using the punch. Ensure it’s centered and aligned correctly.
➑️ Check Alignment: After installing both the front and rear sights, check the alignment by looking down the sights and ensuring they are properly centered and level.
➑️ Tighten Any Set Screws (if applicable): If your sights have set screws to secure them in place, use the appropriate hex or Torx wrench to tighten them to the manufacturer’s specifications. Be careful not to overtighten, as this can damage the sights or the slide.
➑️ Function Check: With the sights installed, perform a function check on your Glock 43 to ensure it cycles properly and the sights are secure.
➑️ Test Fire (Optional): If you’re confident in the installation, you may want to take your Glock 43 to the range for some test firing to confirm that the sights are zeroed and aligned correctly.
➑️ Final Inspection: Carefully inspect the installed sights to ensure they are secure, properly aligned, and free from any defects.
➑️ Clean and Maintain: Clean your Glock 43 as you normally would, paying attention to the new sights to keep them in good condition.

πŸ“Œ Remember that sight installation can vary based on the specific sights you’re using and your familiarity with firearms maintenance.

Combat Sights Vs Target SightsπŸ’‘

The choice between combat sights and target sights, including those with Tactical Hyve, largely depends on your intended use and personal preferences. Let’s break down the differences between combat sights and target sights and explore their potential advantages:

πŸ” Combat Sights: πŸ” Target Sights:

✴️ Purpose: These sights are designed primarily for self-defense and tactical applications. They prioritize quick target acquisition and accuracy at close to moderate distances, typically encountered in defensive scenarios.

πŸ’£ Features:

βœ”οΈ Combat sights often have a simple and rugged design, making them durable and reliable under stressful conditions.

βœ”οΈ They may incorporate features like night sights (tritium or fiber optic) to enhance low-light visibility, which is crucial for self-defense situations.

βœ”οΈ Such sights typically have a low-profile design to minimize the chances of snagging on clothing during a draw.

πŸ’£ Advantages:

βœ”οΈ They are designed for rapid target acquisition, allowing you to get on target quickly in high-stress situations.

βœ”οΈ Night sights on combat sights provide the ability to aim accurately in low-light or nighttime conditions.

βœ”οΈ Such sights are built to withstand harsh conditions and rough handling, making them suitable for duty and self-defense use.

✴️ Purpose: Such sights, as the name suggests, are optimized for precision shooting at longer distances. They are commonly used in competitive shooting sports and target practice where accuracy and consistency are paramount.

πŸ’£ Features:

βœ”οΈ Target sights often have a more intricate and adjustable design, allowing for precise windage and elevation adjustments.

βœ”οΈ They may feature finer sight elements and target-style rear notches, providing a clearer sight picture for precise aiming.

βœ”οΈ These sights may not prioritize low-light visibility as much as combat sights.

πŸ’£ Advantages:

βœ”οΈ Target sights excel at precise aiming and are favored by competitive shooters who need to make accurate shots at various distances.

βœ”οΈ The ability to make precise adjustments to windage and elevation can help you zero your firearm precisely for a specific load or shooting condition.

βœ”οΈ They may offer various options for sight picture and alignment, allowing shooters to tailor their setup to their preferences.

πŸ‘ Ultimately, the choice between combat and target sights should align with your intended use and preferences for your Glock pistol.

FAQπŸ€“

Will Glock 19 sights fit a Glock 43?

πŸ’  Sights are typically designed specifically for each Glock model due to differences in slide dimensions and sight dovetails.

πŸ€” While Glock models like the Glock 19 and Glock 43 have similar slide profiles, they are not identical, and their sight dovetails may differ. Therefore, Glock 19 sights are not guaranteed to fit a Glock 43 without modification or compatibility considerations.

πŸ›‘ When purchasing sights for your Glock 43, look for sights that are explicitly labeled as compatible with the Glock 43 or those that mention compatibility with your specific Glock model. This ensures a proper fit and alignment, which is crucial for accurate shooting and safe firearm operation.

What color sights are best for a Glock 43?

✍️ The choice of sight color for your Glock 43 largely depends on your personal preferences and the specific shooting conditions you anticipate. Here are some considerations for different sight colors:

πŸ”΅ White Dot Sights: Many Glock pistols come with standard white dot sights, which consist of white dots on both the front and rear sights. These are simple and easy to see in most lighting conditions. They are a good all-around choice for general shooting purposes.

πŸ”΅ Fiber Optic Sights: Fiber optic sights use a colored fiber optic rod to gather and focus available light. These sights are especially popular among competitive shooters due to their bright and easy-to-see sight picture. You can choose from various fiber optic colors, such as red, green, or orange. The color you prefer depends on your personal preference and what you find most visible.

πŸ”΅ Night Sights (Tritium): Night sights use tritium inserts that glow in the dark, providing enhanced visibility in low-light or nighttime conditions. They are an excellent choice for self-defense purposes, as many self-defense situations occur in low-light scenarios. Tritium sights are typically available with white, green, or yellow tritium dots. Green is often the most preferred color due to its brightness, but it ultimately depends on your preference.

πŸ”΅ Red Dot Sights (RDS): If you plan to use a red dot sight (RDS) in conjunction with your Glock 43, the color of the dot in your RDS becomes important. Red dots are the most common, but some shooters prefer green dots, as they can be easier to see in certain lighting conditions.

πŸ”΅ Contrasting Colors: Some shooters prefer contrasting colors for the front and rear sights to aid in sight alignment. For example, you might choose a red front sight and a black rear sight for better visibility and faster target acquisition.

πŸ”΅ Personal Preference: Ultimately, the best sight color for your Glock 43 is a matter of personal preference. What matters most is that you can quickly acquire your target and maintain accuracy in various shooting conditions.

πŸ˜‰ Consider your shooting style, the type of shooting you plan to do (self-defense, target shooting, competition), and your eyesight when choosing the sight color that works best for you. It’s also a good idea to try out different options if possible to determine which color provides the best contrast and visibility for your needs.

Are Glock 43 and 43X sights the same?

🀨 The Glock 43 and Glock 43X are similar in many ways, but there are slight differences in their slide dimensions and sight configurations. Therefore, the sights designed for these two models may not be the same, and they may not be interchangeable without some modification. Here are the key differences:

βœ’οΈ Slide Length: The Glock 43X has a slightly longer slide and barrel compared to the Glock 43. The Glock 43X has a slide length of approximately 6.06 inches, while the Glock 43 has a slightly shorter slide length of approximately 5.87 inches.

βœ’οΈ Sight Configuration: Due to the difference in slide length, the Glock 43X typically comes with different factory sights compared to the Glock 43. These differences may include the rear sight dovetail position and the overall sight radius.

βœ’οΈ Sight Compatibility: While some aftermarket sights may be designed to fit both the Glock 43 and Glock 43X, it’s essential to check the manufacturer’s specifications and compatibility information for any sights you plan to install. Some sights may be specifically designed for one model and may not fit the other without modification.

βœ’οΈ Aftermarket Options: Manufacturers may offer sights that are compatible with both the Glock 43 and Glock 43X, but these sights are often designed to accommodate the differences between the two models.

πŸ›‘ Before purchasing aftermarket sights for your Glock 43 or Glock 43X, be sure to confirm their compatibility with your specific model. It’s also recommended to consult with a gunsmith or a knowledgeable firearms professional if you have any doubts about compatibility or need assistance with sight installation.

What type of gun sight is most accurate?

πŸ“’ The accuracy of a gun’s sight depends on various factors, including the type of sight, the shooter’s skill, and the intended use of the firearm. Here are some common types and their considerations for accuracy:

πŸ”Ά Iron Sights: Iron sights are traditional and can be very accurate when used correctly. They consist of a front sight post and a rear sight notch or aperture. Accuracy with iron sights relies heavily on the shooter’s sight alignment, sight picture, and trigger control. Experienced shooters can achieve high levels of accuracy with iron sights, especially at shorter to moderate distances.

πŸ”Ά Red Dot Sights (RDS): Red dot sights provide a single red dot as the aiming point, which is superimposed on the target. These sights can be highly accurate, especially for quick target acquisition and follow-up shots. Red dot sights are commonly used in competitive shooting and tactical applications. Their accuracy is often limited only by the shooter’s ability to maintain proper sight alignment and trigger control.

πŸ”Ά Telescopic Scopes: Scopes, commonly used on rifles, provide magnification and crosshairs to aid in aiming. They are excellent for precision shooting at longer distances, making them highly accurate when used for their intended purpose. Scopes are often used in hunting, long-range shooting, and precision rifle competitions.

πŸ”Ά Holographic Sights: Holographic sights, like those produced by EOTech, offer a holographic reticle that appears to float on the target. They are known for their speed and ease of use, making them accurate for quick target acquisition. However, their accuracy is still subject to the shooter’s skill.

πŸ”Ά Fiber Optic Sights: Fiber optic sights use colored fiber optic rods to gather and focus available light, creating a bright aiming point. While they provide a clear and visible sight picture, their accuracy can be influenced by lighting conditions. They are commonly used in competitive shooting.

πŸ”Ά Night Sights (Tritium): Night sights use tritium inserts that glow in low-light or nighttime conditions. While they enhance visibility in the dark, their accuracy is still reliant on the shooter’s ability to align the sights properly.

πŸ”Ά Laser Sights: Laser sights project a laser beam onto the target, providing a visible aiming point. They can be accurate when properly zeroed, but their effectiveness may vary depending on factors like distance, lighting conditions, and the stability of the laser’s point of impact.

πŸ“Œ Ultimately, the most accurate gun sight for you depends on your shooting needs and preferences. Iron sights, red dot sights, and telescopic scopes are often considered among the most accurate options, but your proficiency with a particular type of sight matters just as much as the sight itself. Regular training and practice are essential to achieving accuracy with any type of sight.

What is the difference between Glock 43 and Glock 43 MOS?

β˜‘οΈ The Glock 43 and Glock 43 MOS are both subcompact 9mm pistols designed for concealed carry and personal defense. However, the primary difference between the two is the presence of an optics-ready MOS (Modular Optic System) configuration in the Glock 43 MOS. Here’s a breakdown of the key differences:

πŸ›‘ Glock 43:

🧩 Standard Configuration: The Glock 43 is the original version of the Glock 43 series and is designed with a traditional slide without any mounting provisions for red dot sights or other optics.

🧩 Sight Configuration: The Glock 43 typically comes with standard Glock factory sights, which consist of a white dot front sight and a white outline rear sight. These sights are non-adjustable and do not include any optics-ready features.

🧩 Concealed Carry: The Glock 43 is a popular choice for concealed carry due to its slim profile and compact dimensions, making it easy to conceal under clothing.

πŸ›‘ Glock 43 MOS:

🧩 MOS Configuration: The Glock 43 MOS features a slide that is milled and designed with a special mounting system that allows for the easy installation of miniature red dot sights (RDS). It has a set of adapter plates that can be used to mount various RDS models securely.

🧩 Optics Compatibility: The MOS system on the Glock 43 MOS is designed to accommodate popular miniature red dot sights like the Trijicon RMR, Leupold DeltaPoint, and others. This allows users to improve their target acquisition and accuracy by adding an RDS to their pistol.

🧩 Sight Configuration: Like the standard Glock 43, the MOS version comes with standard Glock factory sights. However, users often replace these sights with suppressor-height sights to co-witness with the red dot sight.

🧩 Versatility: The Glock 43 MOS is favored by those who prefer to use red dot sights on their concealed carry pistols. The MOS system offers versatility for both concealed carry and competition shooting.

I’ve installed Trijicon HD Night Sights Orange Front Outline on both of my Glock 43s. On one, I have the blacked-out rear sights paired with the oversized front dot in orange. I find the blacked-out rear post with the oversized front dot to be my preference.

I want to highly recommend the Trijicon HD XR Night Sight Set with the orange front sight post. I have them installed on my Glock 19, and I’m planning to put a set on my 43 to replace the factory Glock night sights. I’ve personally found that the orange front sight is much easier to quickly locate, especially in low-light conditions. It stands out against the black rear sight.

I am running Ameriglo GL-105 I-Dot Sight Rear Sight on my Glock 19, and quite satisfied with them. These sights seem to be designed as true defensive handgun sights, prioritizing speed of acquisition and visibility over precision. As a civilian, I don’t anticipate engaging targets much beyond 15-20 yards with their compact handgun, so I opted for these sights, and they find them appealing.

I own two Glock 43 pistols, and for one of them, I’ve installed Trijicon DI Tritium And Fiber Illumination Night Sight Set, while the other has Ameriglo Spartan Tactical Tritium Night Sight Set. I highly recommend both options. There’s certainly a wide range of sight options available to choose from.
