💡 Choose the Right Option:

🔎 When choosing the right 9mm magazine for your MP (assuming you are referring to an MP pistol), there are several factors to consider. 🔐Based on our experience, here are some guidelines to help you make an informed decision:

1️⃣ Compatibility: Ensure that the magazine is specifically designed for your MP pistol model. Different pistol models may have different magazine designs, shapes, and capacities. Check the manufacturer’s specifications or consult the pistol’s user manual to determine the compatible magazine models. 2️⃣ Capacity: Consider your intended use and preferences regarding magazine capacity. Magazines typically come in various capacities, such as 10, 15, or 17 rounds, and sometimes even higher. Keep in mind that larger capacity magazines may extend the length of your pistol grip, making it harder to conceal or affecting the pistol’s balance.
3️⃣ Quality and Reliability: Choose magazines from reputable manufacturers known for producing reliable firearm accessories. Look for well-known brands that have a good reputation for producing high-quality magazines. Research customer reviews and feedback to gauge the reliability and durability of the magazines you are considering. 4️⃣ Material and Construction: Magazines are commonly made from steel, aluminum, or polymer. Steel magazines are generally sturdy and long-lasting but may be heavier. Aluminum magazines offer a balance between weight and durability. Polymer magazines are lightweight and resistant to corrosion but may not be as durable in extreme conditions. Consider your priorities for weight, durability, and resistance to elements when selecting the magazine material.
5️⃣ Function and Features: Some magazines come with additional features that can enhance their performance. For example, magazines may have witness holes or indicators to show the remaining rounds. They may also have extended base plates for easier handling or grip extensions for better ergonomics. Consider these features based on your personal preferences and requirements. 6️⃣ Price: Set a budget for your magazine purchase. While it’s important to prioritize quality and reliability, you can also find magazines that offer a good balance of affordability and performance. Compare prices from different manufacturers and retailers to get the best value for your money.
7️⃣ Legal Considerations: Be aware of any legal restrictions or regulations regarding magazine capacity in your jurisdiction. Some areas may have restrictions on magazine capacity, so ensure that the magazine you choose complies with local laws.

FAQ 🤔

Are M&P 9mm magazines interchangeable?
Yes, in general, they are interchangeable within the same model line. However, there may be some variations and exceptions depending on the specific generation and design changes made by Smith & Wesson.

⚖️ The M&P series pistols have undergone several updates and revisions over the years, so it’s important to ensure compatibility between different generations and models. 📢Our experts have discovered that, for example, the original M&P9 magazines may not fit or function properly in the M&P9 2.0 models due to design changes.

🔔 We always recommend consulting the manufacturer’s specifications or contacting Smith & Wesson directly to confirm compatibility and ensure that the magazines you intend to use are suitable for your specific M&P 9mm pistol.

Can you switch the mag release on M&P Shield?
☑️ Yes, it is possible to switch the magazine release on a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield pistol. The M&P Shield is designed to have an ambidextrous magazine release, allowing for left-handed or right-handed operation. The magazine release can be easily swapped from one side to the other, depending on your preference.

♻️ To switch the magazine release on an M&P Shield, you will typically need to follow the steps we outlined below:

  • 👣 Ensure the firearm is unloaded and there is no ammunition present.
  • 👣 Remove the slide from the frame of the pistol.
  • 👣 Locate the magazine release button on the side of the grip.
  • 👣 Push out the magazine release pin, which is typically located just above or below the button, using a small tool such as a punch or a small screwdriver. The pin should slide out towards the opposite side.
  • 👣 Once the pin is removed, you can slide out the magazine release button from its position.
  • 👣 Flip the button over to the other side and insert it into the corresponding slot on the grip.
  • 👣 Reinsert the magazine release pin from the opposite side to secure the button in place.
  • 👣 Ensure the button functions properly by pressing it to release the magazine.

💡 Note that while the process is relatively straightforward, it’s always a good idea to consult the owner’s manual or seek guidance from a qualified firearms professional if you’re unsure or inexperienced with firearm disassembly and reassembly.

What does M&P stand for?
🔎 M&P typically stands for “Military and Police.”

📌 It refers to a line of semi-automatic pistols and rifles manufactured by Smith & Wesson, a well-known firearms company. 🔔The M&P series was specifically designed for military, law enforcement, and civilian use, and it has gained popularity for its reliability and performance.

Can I use +P or +P+ ammunition in my MP 9mm magazines?
❎ Using +P or +P+ ammunition in your MP 9mm magazines is not recommended unless explicitly stated by the manufacturer. The designation “+P” stands for overpressure ammunition, indicating that it has higher pressure levels than standard ammunition.

📍 While many modern firearms are designed to handle limited amounts of +P ammunition, it is crucial to consult the manufacturer’s guidelines or contact their customer support to confirm whether your specific firearm is rated for +P ammunition.

📢 Using ammunition that exceeds the recommended pressure levels can lead to increased wear and tear on your firearm, potentially causing malfunctions or even damage. ⚠️You should prioritize safety and follow the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure the reliable and safe operation of your firearm.

Are there different types of MP 9mm magazines available?
☑️ Yes, there are different types of 9mm magazines available for MP (military/police) handguns. ⚖️The exact types and availability may vary depending on the specific model of MP handgun you are referring to, as different manufacturers and firearm models may have different magazine designs.

🔔 However, based on the results of our research, some common types that you may come across include:

  • ➡️ Standard Capacity Magazines: These are the standard magazines that come with the MP handgun and typically hold a specific number of rounds, such as 10, 15, or 17 rounds, depending on the model.
  • ➡️ Extended Capacity Magazines: These magazines have a higher capacity than standard magazines and can hold more rounds. They often feature an extended baseplate or a longer overall length to accommodate the additional rounds. Extended capacity magazines can hold anywhere from 20 to 30+ rounds, depending on the design and legal restrictions in your jurisdiction.
  • ➡️ Compact Magazines: Some MP handguns offer compact magazines that are designed to reduce the height or overall size of the firearm for improved concealability. These magazines usually have a reduced round capacity compared to standard magazines.
  • ➡️ High-capacity Drum Magazines: In some cases, particularly with MP submachine guns or certain aftermarket options, you may find drum magazines available. Drum magazines have a cylindrical shape and can hold a significantly higher number of rounds, often 50 rounds or more.

🛑 Note that the availability and legality of different types of magazines may vary depending on your country or state’s firearms regulations. Always ensure that you are familiar with the applicable laws and restrictions before purchasing or using any firearm magazines.

I am extremely satisfied with the Ati MP40 magazine as it closely resembles the magazine that originally came with the gun. I had no difficulties loading it, and the loader provided with the gun proved to be quite effective.

I have been using KCI USA Gen 2 magazines in my SP5, and they have been performing flawlessly. So far, I haven’t encountered any problems. These magazines are an excellent value, costing only half as much as H&K magazines. With their steel magazine body and chromed follower, I expect them to be highly durable and long-lasting. I must say, I am pleasantly surprised by the quality and reliability of these magazines.

I’ve had an excellent experience using these magazines in my HK SP5. I own four of them, and they all function flawlessly. I’m impressed by their performance, which is on par with the factory HK magazines. The best part is that these magazines come at a significantly lower price, approximately one-third of the cost.

I’ve found these magazines to be a perfect fit for my MP-5 clones. They securely lock in place without any play, yet they are easy to release when needed. They are definitely a worthwhile alternative to the expensive HK German magazines. Additionally, I haven’t experienced any feeding issues with them.

As a resident of the state of New York, I am limited to owning firearms with 10-round magazines due to local regulations. Interestingly, I have found that Pro Mag S&W magazines outperform the standard S&W magazines that came with my pistol. The stock magazines tend to hold only 9 rounds and occasionally cause jams when attempting to chamber the first round. In contrast, the Pro Mags have a capacity of 10 rounds and function reliably without any jamming issues.

With the inclusion of two additional OEM 8-round magazines, I now possess a total of three, alongside a 7-round magazine. These Smith & Wesson magazines fit flawlessly. To further enhance my ammunition capacity, I have affixed Hyve +2 magazine extensions to the three 8-round magazines and a Hyve +1 extension to the 7-round magazine. This modification has greatly enhanced my experience at the shooting range. On a related note, the eye-catching Red Hyve extensions have added a distinctive flair to my Shield 9mm. I’ve also applied matching color fill to the slide engraving, resulting in a truly unique firearm. Wishing you a delightful time with your own gun!

I am thrilled with the fantastic deal I received on these factory magazines. These magazines work flawlessly without any issues. In addition to the two magazines that came with the original purchase, I decided to purchase two more to complement them. With all four magazines boasting an 8-round capacity, I now have an abundance of magazines at my disposal for both range sessions and as reliable backup firepower.

📢 MP 9mm magazines are typically designed specifically for the MP (Military/Police) series of firearms produced by Heckler & Koch, such as the MP5 submachine gun or MP5K compact submachine gun. However, other firearms are compatible with MP 9mm magazines, either due to intentional design or modifications.

➡️ One example of a firearm that can use MP 9mm magazines is the Zenith Z-5RS pistol. The Zenith Z-5RS is a semi-automatic pistol that is a licensed reproduction of the MP5. It is designed to accept MP5-style magazines, including MP 9mm magazines.

🔔 It’s important to note that while some firearms may be compatible with MP 9mm magazines, it is always best to consult the manufacturer’s specifications and guidelines to ensure compatibility and reliable functioning.

I used to have doubts about the durability and functionality of Korean-made magazines until I tried out a couple of KCI USA magazines. To put them to the test, I brought them to the range along with the ETS magazines I already owned. I fired approximately 500 rounds, and I was pleasantly surprised by their performance. The KCI magazines operated smoothly without any jams, misfeeds, or any other issues. Impressed by their reliability, I immediately ordered more when I returned home. Considering they are priced at more than half the cost of German HK magazines, I believe they are an excellent investment.
