There are a few different ways to clean a flintlock muzzleloader.

  • One is to use a solvent such as acetone or brake cleaner to remove the build-up of black powder residue from the barrel and lock.
  • Another is to use a brush with some soapy water to scrub out the barrel and lock.
  • And yet another is to swab out the barrel and lock it with a cleaning rod and patch saturated with solvent or soapy water.

Whichever method you choose, be sure to rinse the barrel and lock it thoroughly with clean water before reassembling the weapon.

One is to use a chemical cleaner, such as Sweets 7.62. This is a cleaning solvent that comes in a liquid or aerosol form and can be used to clean the barrel of the gun. It also helps remove lead and copper build-up from the barrel.

First, use a brush to clean out the barrel of the gun.

You can also use a cleaning patch that’s been treated with solvent.

Next, remove the flint from the lock and clean it with solvent.

Finally, remove the frizzen and oil it well.
