Depending on the model, Winchester rifles can have different screws that adjust the trigger pull weight. Generally, you’ll find a screw on the front and back of the trigger that adjusts how far it travels before it makes contact with the firing pin. There are also screws on the sides of the trigger that adjust how much pressure is needed to pull it. By turning these screws in or out, you can adjust the trigger pull weight to your liking.

According to the Winchester Model 70 Owner’s Manual, “To adjust the trigger on your rifle, loosen the two screws that hold the trigger assembly in place. With the screws loosened, you can move the trigger assembly in any direction you want. Tighten the screws when you have found a position that is comfortable for you.”

If you are uncomfortable with adjusting the trigger yourself, take your rifle to a qualified gunsmith.

To adjust the trigger on a Winchester Model 70, loosen the screw at the bottom of the trigger and move it up or down to adjust the pull weight. You can also adjust the sear engagement by moving the screw at the top of the trigger. Moving it towards the front will decrease engagement while moving it towards the back will increase engagement.

You can use a screwdriver to adjust the screws located on either side of the trigger, or you can use an Allen wrench to adjust the screw located in the middle of the trigger. Be careful not to over-adjust the screws, as this could cause damage to the trigger.
